One of the great aspects of photography is the seemingly simple mechanism of taking a picture. Point the camera press the shutter button and voila a picture! This simple action though belies both the complex pschological aspect of human interaction and the scientific understanding of light through our technological marvel: the camera. As a photographer I find both these aspects a continued source of delight. Why would I choose a certain moment in time and freeze it? What is my purpose and intent in the flow of interaction between myself and the subject I wish to capture? What lens do I choose?
In my time on this planet I firmly believe in the organic flow of creative energy and being able to harness it effectively. The rest as the great philsopher Plato would suggest is a process of unlearning. We have acquired so many masks in the process of survival that we forget our real selves and it is this I try to capture in the photograph. The unguarded moments that reveal our true nature. It is this raw natural self that you want to present to casting directors, the blank canvas that in the directors eye can be moulded and reshaped into whatever character he can see in you.
