The great thing about photographing bands especially when you are the sole official photographer is you can experiment and shoot all day long with no interference. This means a greater range of shots and an improvement in areas of photography where you feel a degree of weakness. What I noticed this weekend was the level of invovlvement I felt when the performers on stage had charisma. There is something about this chemistry not only between performer and audience but also performer and photographer. It's almost as though there is a will from the performer to create the conditions fot that perfect shot, the perfect moment. A number of the bands had that chemsitry and like with actors in theater you can almost sense them subtly inviting you into their world willing you on to capture that creative essense. It definitely is a two way process.
