Pole is one of those plays that somehow infiltrates deep inside you. All your assumptions about pole dancing and the underbelly that it is associated with are turned upside down. In fact as a theatre piece I found the juxtaposition of these contrary elements fascinating not least of all because of the way these performers managed to display in effortless succession a burlesque, cabaret style followed by at times balletic sequences of sublime beauty. I found myself thinking long and hard about the messages conveyed in this piece and felt the power of these juxtapostions in the images I captured at the preview performances. This is cutting edge theatre and I really wish Anais and her fellow cast members a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015.
