Max came round for a shoot today. It was a glorious day of sunshine and blue skies so we were able to take advantage of both studio and outdoor light. Sometimes when you do a shoot there is this horrible thought that just maybe every picture is going to be horrid or the lighting conditions dreadful. Today as we walked around Ladywell Park these ominous little devils started nagging at me. Max was struggling to relax and the sunshine was just a little too bright. So we walked around trying to find the right location. Nothing ideal really until we came across a tennis court and a path shrouded by naked trees. Creative potential just suddenly jumped out at us. I've been using a portable LED light that has been very usefull as a fill light and here was the perfect opportunity to use it. The setting sun became a back light creating some lovely rim lighting and the LED became the main front/side light. We were now able to play around and get creative and the shoot became a fun adventure. When we got home we were delighted with some of the results. We still had the studio shoot to do and this produced some lovely gems too. So the moral of the story is to not let those little devils get the better of you. Experiment until things start to gel and those eureka moments happen. They always do!
