It's always an exciting adventure photographing a play because one participates on two primary levels. First as an audience member following the play in real time becoming absorbed in the characters and story and then as the photographer capturing the stand out moments and hopefully in a single frame being able to capture the emotional and visual content with the layers of meaning that have unfolded. This particular play focuses on the coming of age of a young man who is traumatised by the mass murder of school mates by his best friend. The confusing dynamics of relationships and suspicion aroused by the harrowing event gets played out in this young man's journey to self discovery. Kat Timms the director was keen to have me on board and it was a real priviledge to witness such raw talent exploring the dynamics of this emotionally fraught and difficult play. I hope some of the images capture this young man's journey.
